The Alcatel Period | Tender VLE | Online Tender Training

hi everyone it’s Dan here from tender
VLE and in this video we are looking at the Alcatel period now most companies
have one a period of time where provisions are established but nothing’s
actually quite set in stone some may call a cooling-off period
others may call it a standstill period but one thing that combines all these
terms together is the fact that this is a dedicated time frame where provisions
can be revoked in some way as a definition during the tender and
procedure the Alcatel period is the official 10-day time scale which is
between the contract award notification and contract start date now this is
basically the time in between when the winner is announced and when the winner
gets to announce this to the world as do in this 10-day period a lot can change
the Alcatel period was brought in by the official journal of the European Union
or OJEU for short and was implemented across UK procurement in the Year 2005
its aim was to provide all the suppliers the opportunity to contest the decision
made across public procurement if they felt that they had been marked too
harshly or if scores didn’t quite add up now this is an encouragement for you to
waste a buyers time when you’re disappointed with the result remember
you’ll be a much more prosperous business and demonstrate a much better
way of working if you can accept a loss and work harder on the next bid we do
know that sometimes there may be extremely close calls with winning
submissions and minimal feedback is provided which admittedly looks quite
bad on the buyers part it’s at this point where the Alcatel period can be
used to your advantage and you can formally contest a decision which from
our experience has resulted in revaluations reruns of the procurement
process in total and even cancellations now this is all quite rare but still
happens and if there any clear issues recognised upon contract award the
Alcatel period of 10 days is there to get at the bottom of the set issues and
highlight clear discrepancies upon contract award if you need any further
