How to Play Spades : Bidding With a Partner in the Game of Spades

Hi, my name is Dan Kimbrough on behalf of
expertvillage.com, in this clip we are going to discuss how to bid a spade hands based
on partnership rules. What partnership rules means is that you and your partner will enter
one bid and the opposing team would enter one bid. The way you do this is you look at
your hand and you tell your partner what you have as far as definite and maybes. In this
hand as you can see we have the ace of hearts and the ace of clubs. Aces are consider definites,
so you have 2 definites. Now you also have the jack of hearts and the jack of clubs,
those two would be consider possibles. You don’t know how the cards are going to fall
so you are not quiet sure whether or not they are going to happen. So and you have as you
can see here, a few spades they are pretty low so those spades aren’t going to help you
out in the long run. So you can tell your partner that you got 2 definites and 2 possibles.
Depending on what your partner tells you will decide what you decide to bid as a team. Your
partner says I got 3 definites and a possible that is 5 and 3 possibles. The conservative
bid would be to go 6, you definitely have 5 you got 3 possibles amongst you, that means
one of those possibles is going to actually occur. So you would bid 6 that way, you can
be even more conservative and bid 5 but then you run the effect that you end up sandbagging
and you can be aggressive and go 7 because some people play the rule of thumb as every
two possibles is one definite, you got three rounded up.

I must be playing a different game. Are you playing the common version of Spades online? I never heard of consulting with your partner.

The Jack is a VERY week possible. Hell I wouldn't even call a queen in most cases.

I wouldn't even consider the jacks. I see the 2 ace's and 1 from cutting with diamonds and thats almost a possible depending on if your partner has the ace and king because after that someone might be cutting, just like you!

Your aces and kings are your most definite the jacks and under aren't very good unless you're jack is higher suit than the others are!
