Chris Kluwe on the next NFL collective bargaining agreement

This next CBA is gonna be real interesting because The problem is is that in the last CBA with the with the rookie contracts? The idea behind that was that the rookies wouldn’t get as much you wouldn’t get those huge You know quarterback 69 million dollars for a guy who’s never played a snap in the NFL Some of that money would go towards the veterans, right? You know the those mid tier veteran players who’ve been in the league six to eight years Don’t get the huge contracts, but you know, they think probably should be paid a bit more What ended up happening? Is the teams looked at it as oh cool now we can lock in these rookies at lower wages for three to five years We can cut the mid-tier veterans and we can spend more of that money on quarterbacks superstar receivers superstar D lineman and so that’s that’s how you’re seeing the makeup of teens these days and a lot of players have kind of clued in to the fact that this isn’t what was intended we need to find a way to change this and I think that’s really gonna be a big driver in the next CBA towards the players are gonna want money towards the veterans and the owners are gonna be like no this is this is how we want it to be and then then You can have the other stuff where it’s like the owners want more regular-season games so they can get more ticket sales The players want you know less contact because it’s damage on their bodies But compared to the the gap between the rookie wage scale and what veteran players are making I think that’s going to be the the big thing
